Headquartered in North Billerica, MA, Seahorse Bioscience, the leader in the design and development of instruments for assessing cellular bioenergetics, announced Cell-Bio Biotechnology as the distributor of Seahorse XF Analyzers and consumables in Taiwan at the 6th Conference of the Asian Society for Mitochondrial Research and Medicine in Taipei.
Seahorse Extracellular Flux Analyzers provide the first and only method to measure the two major energy producing pathways -- mitochondrial respiration and glycolysis -- in living cells in a microplate. Mr Richard Huang, President of Cell-Bio Biotechnology, said, \"Taiwan has interest in mitochondrial research and translational medicine. We have a large number of bioenergetic scientists who are looking for newer methods for studying mitochondrial dysfunction, and in particular its role in cancer, obesity and age-related diseases. Seahorse XF Analyzers offer the practical and modern way to study mitochondria in whole cells. This is the first opportunity researchers have had to see the XF Analyzer in Taiwan, and we\'re already receiving orders.\" XF Analyzers enable scientists to assess the impact of drugs, genetic modifications and environment by monitoring the rate that cells consume oxygen and produce metabolic byproducts including acid and carbon dioxide.
\"Taiwan\'s mitochondrial research community continues to grow requiring us to have a local distributor to address their needs. We chose Cell-Bio to be our Taiwan agent after seeing their commitment to supporting these researchers with a comprehensive line of cell analysis equipment and the training and support to ensure their success -- things Seahorse believes to be essential,\" noted Steve Chomicz, VP Sales and Marketing for Seahorse. |
